Bathrooms
What a wonderful way to relax, just lye back in your bath and let the cares of the day flow away. But, can you lye back in your bath? Did you make sure that it suited you when you bought it? Is it deep enough? Is the plug in the right place so that when you sit down, it's comfortable and doesn't let the water out or are the lights shining in your eyes?
A bathroom is an area of your home that you need to ensure meets the demands you are going to place on it and you need to consider everything that needs to be done before you go out and invest what could be many thousands of pounds buying and installing it. If you are thinking about a new bathroom just give us a call and we can advise you on what is possible, making sure you get everything you need.
Taps
If you just need to fix a leaky tap or install new ones, you need to think about it carefully and make sure you choose the right type of tap for your home, most taps reduce the flow of water, some more than others.
Taps can be a costly investment, so make sure you have them fitted correctly and they are right for the job you are looking for them to do. It might only be a tap, but can you turn it on and off easily or adjust the temperature? Does the water flow at the right rate for your use and not splash right out of the bowl? Does the tap extend far enough over the sink to ensure that you are not getting water onto your counter top or furniture? Only small questions, but if you don't consider them before you invest in your taps you might have spent a lot of money on something that doesn't really do the job you need it to do.
Showers
Whether you are just thinking of changing your existing shower, fitting a shower over a bath or creating a new shower area, it's important that you consider all of the options.
If you have a combi boiler to heat your water, will it cope with the extra demand or should you have an electric shower fitted? Just think about it, if someone is running a bath or having a shower already, would your water heater still be able to support the second shower providing enough hot water at the right pressure?
These day's showers can be installed easily in any room and you have so many options to choose from. Let us come and advise you on what is possible to make sure that it works to suit your living arrangements.
Water Tanks & Cylinders
Whether it is a hot water cylinder or cold water tank, think about where it is going to be best placed. If it is a cold water tank and it needs replacing, think about whether you could move it from an upstairs cupboard to a loft. Not only will this give you added living space in your home, but it will improve the water pressure to the rest of your home and could reduce the time your washing machine takes to complete its cycle as it fills quicker saving you money.
If it's a hot water cylinder then you probably have more options - yes, you could even move this into the loft to give you more space, but is the loft hatch big enough? Will the loft need additional supports for the weight of the water, or is the water heated somewhere else and it will then have a long way to travel before it is stored. With hot water there is a lot more to consider, and perhaps it is time for you to think slightly differently - perhaps a supper efficient combi boiler would provide all of your hot water needs and alleviate the need to have a hot water storage cylinder in your home? There are so many options to consider.
Toilets
For the cloakroom, bathroom or en-suite you have so many types of toilets now to choose from. Back to the wall, close coupled, concealed - which one is right for you. Well, that might depend on what you have today unless you want to make bigger changes, but one way or another the choice is huge and that's just for the toilet, forgetting about the actual lid itself and whether you want it to soft-close!
Like many other things these days a toilet is not just a toilet any more, you can pay from around £40 up to many hundreds or even thousands of pounds for one dependent on what you are looking for. So, before you invest give us a call and we can talk you through the options you might have.
If you are thinking about installing a second or additional toilet, there are many other things to consider too but today even if there is no plumbing anywhere near the area you want to install it in, it is possible. Just find that small space below the stairs or in a redundant cupboard, or even grab some of that unused space in your garage and you'll have another toilet in your home. It's easy when you know how.
Appliances
When you are buying a new appliance for your home, it might be time to take a look at the plumbing and make sure all is in order before you fit it. For instance do you have a stop valve that you can easily reach if it goes wrong and you need to disconnect the water. Don't leave these things to chance and risk flooding your home. Just give us a call and we can pop round and advise you on what needs to be done.
